About Us
The Melbourne City Powerchair Team was established in 2015 when local fans Luke David and Craig Kilby approached the Melbourne City Football Club and City in the Community to create the first Powerchair Football team in Victoria.
Since its inception, the team has achieved remarkable success, winning the Premiership in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2022/23. They have also claimed Championship titles in 2018, 2019, and 2021. Additionally, the team has produced numerous Poweroos over the years, showcasing their talent and dedication to the sport.
The team has competed at five APFA Club Championships in Sydney (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2023). In 2023, Melbourne City finished as Runners-Up against Hills United, narrowly losing the final on penalties. They are set to travel to Brisbane in August 2024 for another national campaign.
Beyond their on-field success, the team has facilitated presentations and workshops at community groups and schools, promoting inclusivity and awareness. Despite their achievements, players and their families often have to cover expenses to play the sport they love.
Donations and sponsorships are crucial for the team and its players, enabling them to continue pushing beyond their disabilities to play the sport they are passionate about. The commitment, sweat, and tears that our players invest in this sport are immense. As we embark on the journey to grow the team, strive for excellence, and hopefully one day see the sport included in the Paralympics, your support is more important than ever.
