City fall heartbreakingly short of being national champions, losing to Hills United on penalties. The 2023 National Club Championships proved to be a landmark event for the Melbourne City Powerchair Team. Despite falling heartbreakingly short of becoming national champions, losing to Hills United on penalties, the team's performance was nothing short of spectacular. This year marked several significant milestones and showcased the exceptional talent and dedication of our players.
For the first time in the club’s history, and the first for a Victorian club, Melbourne City secured a place in the finals. This achievement alone speaks volumes about the team’s growth and determination. The team maintained an impressive defensive record throughout the tournament, achieving seven clean sheets and conceding only two goals. Such a solid defensive foundation was critical to their success and a testament to the hard work of the players and coaching staff.
