EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST 2026/27 SEASON

Melbourne City Powerchair Football Club is now accepting expressions of interest for new and returning players ahead of the 2026/27 Victorian Powerchair Football League (VPL) season, expected to commence in November 2026.


As the current VPL Premiers and VPL Cup Winners, we are looking to continue building on our success and welcome new players who are interested in becoming part of one of Victoria's leading powerchair football clubs.


What is Powerchair Football?


Powerchair football is an exciting, fast-paced team sport designed for people who use a powerchair or mobility aid in their daily lives. The sport combines skill, strategy and teamwork, with players competing in both state and national competitions.


Whether you're completely new to the sport or have previous experience, there are opportunities to develop your skills and be part of a supportive and inclusive team environment.


Who Can Play?


People with a physical disability who require the use of a mobility aid on a daily basis are encouraged to register their interest.


We welcome:


  • New players

  • Returning players

  • Junior and adult players

  • Players interested in social, developmental or competitive pathways


Training

Training sessions are held:


Mondays

4:00pm - 5:45pm

State Sport Centres - Parkville


New players are welcome to attend training sessions to learn more about the sport and meet the team.


Equipment


We have a limited number of sports powerchairs available for new players to try the sport.


If you are interested but do not have access to a sports chair, please contact us and we will do our best to help you get started.


Competitions


League matches are generally played on:


Sundays

11:30am - 3:30pm

State Sport Centres - Parkville


Players may have opportunities to compete in:


  • Victorian Powerchair Football League (VPL)

  • Australian Club Championships

  • National representative pathways

  • International competitions and World Cups


Costs


Please note that participation in the club involves:


  • Annual season registration fees

  • Competition fees

  • Training session fees


Further information regarding fees will be provided during the registration process.


Playing Opportunities


Expressions of interest are currently being accepted for:


Division 2 Squad


A competitive environment for players looking to develop their skills and work towards Division 1 football.


Development Squad


Ideal for new players and those developing their understanding of the game, with pathways into Division 2 and beyond.

Once submitted, a member of our club will contact you to arrange an introductory discussion and explain the next steps.
